About Us

Tin Plate Limited, the holding company for Sbarro Restaurants in The Bahamas was formed in 1995 and headed by Charlton Knowles the Managing Director. The first unit was opened on October 4 th 1996 in the former Nassau Beach Hotel complex along West Bay Street.
Three years after the initial unit opened, Sbarro opened its second and largest unit in the old Island Shoppe building on Bay Street. Three years after that Sbarro opened a third unit in the Mall at Marathon. In 2007 Sbarro opened in the College of The Bahamas campus, but this unit was operational for one year only, closing in 2008.
With the sale of the Nassau Beach Hotel to The Baha Mar group the original Cable Beach Sbarro was forced to close in January 2008. Anticipating the closure of the Nassau Beach Hotel, Sbarro commenced construction of its current Cable Beach unit around the end of 2007 and opened that unit in February 2008.Due to the recession of 2008 Sbarro saw no new development until October 2011, when the Carmichael Road unit opened. However, in 2013 and 2014, with the economy still not recovered from five years earlier, Sbarro Bay Street and Carmichael Road closed, Bay Street, being the first.
Today, Sbarro has streamlined its operation to just two units, one being in the Old City Market on Cable Beach and the other at the Mall at Marathon - although smaller, we are nonetheless, as dynamic as ever.
Sbarro is a quick service restaurant (QSR) that specializes in pizza, pasta, meat, fish and chicken items. The Sbarro in The Bahamas is not the typical Sbarro, in that we have adapted the menu to accommodate the local culture. In so doing we have become a family oriented restaurant that appeals to both kids and their parents.
Sbarro is supportive of many causes, including the Hands for Hunger program, the Summer Police Kids program, the Salvation Army, The Bahamas Red Cross and many more. Sbarro is always looking for growth opportunities and hope to extend its offerings to as many people as possible.
